Terms of Service
Effective Date: 17 May 2026
1. Introduction and acceptance of terms
These Terms of Service (the “Terms”) govern your access to and use of the services, products, website, communications, workshops, events, and related offerings provided by Harbour Fold Studio (“Harbour Fold Studio”, “we”, “us”, or “our”).
By making an enquiry, placing an order, booking a workshop, attending an event, purchasing a product, or otherwise engaging our services, you agree to be bound by these Terms. If you do not agree to these Terms, you must not use our services.
These Terms apply to all customers, clients, participants, and visitors using our services in Hong Kong or otherwise contracting with Harbour Fold Studio.
2. Scope of services
Harbour Fold Studio provides origami-related creative services, which may include, without limitation:
- Custom origami wedding decorations;
- Corporate gift design and packaging;
- Origami workshop classes for beginners and teams;
- Personalized paper sculptures and installations;
- Event table styling and centerpiece design; and
- Seasonal origami greeting cards and keepsakes.
Service descriptions, quotations, timelines, sample images, and specifications are provided for reference only and may be updated or adjusted based on availability of materials, design requirements, production constraints, venue conditions, and client instructions.
Unless expressly agreed in writing, all services are provided on a bespoke or made-to-order basis and may involve creative judgment by Harbour Fold Studio.
3. User obligations and responsibilities
You agree to provide accurate, complete, and timely information necessary for us to perform the services, including event details, delivery addresses, design preferences, names, dates, venue requirements, and any special instructions.
You are responsible for:
- Reviewing quotations, proofs, mock-ups, schedules, and order details carefully before approval;
- Ensuring that all content, wording, logos, trademarks, and images supplied by you do not infringe any third-party rights;
- Obtaining any required permissions, venue approvals, or licences for events, installations, or workshop attendance;
- Providing safe and suitable working conditions where on-site setup, styling, or installation is required;
- Supervising minors or guests where applicable; and
- Complying with all applicable laws, venue rules, and safety instructions.
You must not use our services for unlawful, defamatory, obscene, discriminatory, or infringing purposes. We reserve the right to refuse or discontinue services if your conduct is abusive, unsafe, unlawful, or materially inconsistent with these Terms.
4. Payment terms and conditions
All fees, deposits, and payment schedules will be set out in our quotation, invoice, booking confirmation, or written agreement. Unless otherwise stated:
- A non-refundable deposit may be required to confirm a booking or commence design work;
- Full payment may be required before delivery, collection, event setup, or workshop attendance;
- Prices are quoted in Hong Kong dollars (HKD) unless stated otherwise;
- Any bank charges, transfer fees, card fees, customs duties, import taxes, or similar charges are your responsibility unless expressly included in our quotation; and
- Late payments may result in suspension of work, delayed delivery, cancellation of bookings, or storage charges.
We reserve the right to revise quotations if there are changes to scope, quantities, materials, deadlines, venue conditions, or client instructions. Any additional work requested after approval may be charged separately.
Title to any physical products remains with Harbour Fold Studio until full payment has been received, to the extent permitted by law.
5. Cancellation and refund policy
Because many of our services are custom-made and time-sensitive, cancellations and refunds are subject to the following terms unless a different policy is stated in writing for a specific order:
- Deposits are generally non-refundable once design work, material procurement, or scheduling has begun;
- If you cancel after work has commenced, you may remain liable for all completed work, materials purchased, administrative costs, and any non-cancellable third-party expenses;
- Workshop bookings may be cancelled or rescheduled only in accordance with the notice period stated in the booking confirmation;
- No refund will be provided for missed workshops, no-shows, late arrivals, or failure to provide required information;
- For custom products, refunds are generally not available once production has started, except where required by applicable law or where we agree otherwise in writing;
- If we cancel a service due to circumstances within our control, we may offer a rescheduled date, store credit, or refund of the amount paid for the cancelled portion, at our discretion and subject to applicable law.
Any approved refund will be made using the original payment method where practicable, within a reasonable time after approval. Shipping, delivery, installation, and handling fees may be non-refundable unless otherwise required by law.
6. Liability limitations
To the maximum extent permitted by Hong Kong law, Harbour Fold Studio shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, punitive, or exemplary losses, including loss of profit, loss of business, loss of goodwill, or loss of opportunity arising out of or in connection with our services.
Without limiting the foregoing, we are not responsible for delays, defects, or losses caused by:
- Incorrect or incomplete information provided by you;
- Venue restrictions, weather, transport disruptions, or third-party failures;
- Improper handling, storage, display, or installation after delivery or handover;
- Normal wear and tear, fading, crushing, moisture damage, or environmental conditions affecting paper-based products;
- Events beyond our reasonable control; or
- Any third-party products, services, or materials not supplied by Harbour Fold Studio.
Where liability cannot be excluded, our total aggregate liability for any claim arising out of or relating to the services shall be limited to the amount paid by you to Harbour Fold Studio for the specific service giving rise to the claim, to the extent permitted by law.
Nothing in these Terms excludes or limits liability for fraud, fraudulent misrepresentation, death or personal injury caused by negligence, or any other liability that cannot be excluded under applicable law.
7. Intellectual property rights
All intellectual property rights in our designs, concepts, sketches, templates, methods, workshop materials, photographs, text, branding, and original artistic works remain the property of Harbour Fold Studio or our licensors, unless otherwise agreed in writing.
Upon full payment, you receive a limited, non-exclusive, non-transferable licence to use the final delivered custom product for its intended personal or internal business purpose, subject to any written restrictions. No ownership of underlying design rights, source files, working files, or preparatory materials is transferred unless expressly stated.
You may not copy, reproduce, modify, distribute, publicly display, sell, reverse engineer, or create derivative works from our materials or designs without our prior written consent.
We may, unless you object in writing in advance, photograph or record completed works, installations, or workshop activities for portfolio, marketing, and social media purposes, provided that any personal data is handled in accordance with our privacy practices and applicable law.
If you supply materials, logos, or content to us, you represent and warrant that you have the necessary rights and permissions to use and provide them to Harbour Fold Studio for the purpose of performing the services.
8. Data protection and privacy
We collect, use, store, and process personal data in connection with enquiries, bookings, payments, deliveries, workshops, and customer support. We will handle personal data in accordance with the Personal Data (Privacy) Ordinance (Cap. 486) of Hong Kong and our internal privacy practices.
Personal data may include your name, contact details, billing information, event details, preferences, and any other information you choose to provide. We may use such data to:
- Respond to enquiries and provide quotations;
- Process orders, bookings, payments, and deliveries;
- Arrange workshops, installations, and customer support;
- Maintain records and comply with legal obligations; and
- Send service-related communications.
We may disclose personal data to trusted third-party service providers only where necessary to perform our services, such as payment processors, delivery providers, or venue-related contractors, subject to appropriate confidentiality and data protection safeguards.
You should not provide us with sensitive personal data unless it is necessary for the service and you consent to our handling of it. By using our services, you acknowledge that internet communications and electronic storage are not completely secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.
9. Force majeure
Harbour Fold Studio shall not be liable for any delay, failure, or inability to perform our obligations where such delay or failure is caused by events beyond our reasonable control, including but not limited to natural disasters, fire, flood, epidemic, pandemic, acts of government, war, civil unrest, labour disputes, power outages, transport disruptions, supply shortages, or failures of third-party suppliers or venues.
In such circumstances, we may suspend performance, extend timelines, reschedule services, substitute materials where reasonably appropriate, or cancel the affected service if performance becomes impracticable. We will use reasonable efforts to notify you and minimise disruption.
10. Changes to terms
We may update or revise these Terms from time to time to reflect changes in our services, business practices, or legal requirements. The updated Terms will take effect from the date stated on the revised version or, if no date is stated, upon publication.
Your continued use of our services after any change constitutes acceptance of the revised Terms. If you do not agree to the updated Terms, you should discontinue use of our services and, where applicable, contact us regarding any outstanding order or booking.
11. Applicable law and jurisdiction
These Terms and any dispute or claim arising out of or in connection with them, including non-contractual disputes or claims, shall be governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region.
You agree that the courts of Hong Kong shall have exclusive jurisdiction to settle any dispute arising out of or in connection with these Terms, subject to any mandatory rights you may have under applicable law.

The remaining provisions shall continue in full force and effect. Any failure or delay by Harbour Fold Studio to exercise any right or remedy under these Terms shall not constitute a waiver of that right or remedy.
